Who we work with / Councils and local authorities

IT disposal for councils, recorded for audit and procurement.

Collection, data erasure and hard drive destruction across civic offices, depots, libraries and other council buildings, with the records your information governance, waste and procurement teams ask for.

Evidence for audit, waste and procurement

Disposing of IT touches data protection, waste law and procurement rules at the same time. Each needs its own evidence.

What the council has to show

  • Data was erased or destroyed

The council stays the controller under UK GDPR for personal data on retired devices, so it needs evidence of what happened to each one.

  • Waste went to an authorised person

Under the waste duty of care in section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, waste must be passed to someone authorised to take it, with transfer records kept.

  • Social value was considered

The Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 asks authorities to consider social value when buying services, and tenders often score it.

  • Every asset is accounted for

Internal audit and the asset register need each disposed device closed off by serial number.

  • An asset list for every collection, by building

Built around a council estate

Council IT sits in many buildings, run by different services. We plan the collection around that.

  • Many buildings, one record

Offices, depots, libraries and community buildings collected on agreed dates. Each site gets its own asset list, and the programme gets one combined record.

  • Drives that can’t leave the building

On-site destruction for drives from services that handle sensitive data, such as revenues and benefits or social care, with every drive listed by serial number.

  • Social value, locally

We’re a North East company, so councils in the region can buy locally. Working equipment is reused before anything is recycled.
